Electronic expansion valves CAREL - EXV

The CAREL EXV Electronic Expansion Valve precisely regulates the flow of refrigerant entering the evaporator using electrical signals from a controller. The controller processes temperature and pressure data from the evaporator outlet to maintain an optimal level of superheat. Unlike traditional thermostatic expansion valves (TXV) that rely on mechanical control, the EXV provides real-time, high-precision electronic regulation, ensuring optimal system performance and energy efficiency.

Key Features of the CAREL EXV Electronic Expansion Valve

1. Exceptional Precision Control
The CAREL EXV delivers highly accurate refrigerant flow regulation, maintaining consistent superheat levels even at very low flow rates. This precision ensures the evaporator operates efficiently across all load conditions.

2. Robust and Durable Construction
Manufactured from high-quality materials—including stainless steel, copper, brass, and composite alloys—the valve withstands high pressure, temperature fluctuations, and harsh operating environments. The external stator can be replaced without removing the valve from the system, simplifying maintenance and reducing downtime.

3. Wide Operating Range
The CAREL EXV supports capacities of up to 2,000 kW, making it suitable for large-scale refrigeration applications. It is compatible with various refrigerants, including natural refrigerants like CO₂ (R744), making it environmentally friendly and ideal for modern refrigeration systems.

4. Bidirectional Flow Design
This valve supports two-way flow control, allowing it to be used in heat pump systems that require refrigerant flow reversal during heating and cooling cycles.

Benefits in Refrigeration Applications

1. Significant Energy Savings
By maintaining optimal superheat levels, the EXV ensures the compressor operates at maximum efficiency. It minimizes condenser pressure and increases evaporator pressure, resulting in reduced compressor workload and substantial energy savings.

2. Enhanced System Stability and Efficiency
The valve provides rapid response to load variations, maintaining stable and precise temperature control—critical for applications that require consistent cooling performance.

3. Extended Compressor Lifespan
Precise superheat management prevents liquid refrigerant backflow (liquid slugging) into the compressor, a major cause of internal damage. This reduces wear and tear, extending the overall lifespan of the compressor.

4. Greater Flexibility and Adaptability
Compared to mechanical valves, the EXV adapts seamlessly to varying operating conditions and load demands. It’s ideal for variable-load systems or heat pumps, offering responsive control and reliability.

5. Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Operation
Designed to work with natural refrigerants and minimize greenhouse gas emissions, the CAREL EXV supports sustainable energy usage and aligns with global environmental standards.
